This may sound funny, but having an organized purse can help lower your stress. Think about how many times you have fumbled for your keys, phone, wallet, or other important items. While searching, did you get a sudden feeling of panic? By creating an organized bag with designated spots for everything, you’ll avoid those frantic moments of searching.
Follow these simple steps to keep you organized:
1. First, empty your purse and sort into piles of keep, toss, or store elsewhere. 2. Once you’re down to only the essentials, it's time to categorize the rest into different zones or sections.
Financial zone - an area to keep your wallet, receipts, coupons, etc.
Communication zone - the spot for your cell phone, pens, notebook, or planner
Personal care section - your place for tissues, lipstick, and medicines
Snack zone - easily find your mints and gum
3. Decide how to store items in each category for easy accessibility. Check your bag for suitable compartments for each of your zones. If not, you can find appropriately sized (zippered) storage pouches to keep in your bag.
Many pouch options are available for your items, from clear vinyl to designer fabrics. Some prefer a clear style to see what’s inside. Others choose fabric or leather/vinyl pouches to coordinate with the color or design of their bag. You can also find complete bag organizers, which are available in a variety of styles and colors. These will let you easily transfer everything from one bag to another bag in seconds. It’s up to your imagination! 4. Finally, designate a place for frequently used items, such as keys, wallets, and phones, to avoid last-minute stressful searches.
Remember, the key to maintaining an organized bag is to resist the old habits of dumping everything into your bag. Rather, commit to returning the items back to their intended spaces and schedule regular clean-outs. Switching between purses every few weeks is a little trick that will keep your bags neat and organized.
A little work and planning will now keep you from digging for items, saving you time and aggravation.
